Grass vs Turf vs Futsal: Which Football Do You Need?

Where you play changes how a ball behaves. Here's a quick overview of the main surfaces.
Natural grass
The traditional surface for match football. A standard size 5 match ball is designed for grass.
Artificial turf
Turf pitches are common for training and five-a-side. Many standard footballs are used on turf, though abrasive surfaces can wear a ball faster — clean it after play.
Futsal (indoor courts)
Futsal uses a smaller, low-bounce ball designed for hard indoor floors. A regular football bounces too much for futsal.
Our advice
For outdoor matches and training on grass or turf, a size 5 match ball is the right choice. For indoor futsal, choose a dedicated futsal ball.
